Schools : Application Criteria
Application Requirements:
To apply for either or both levels of licensing as an IYT Partner School the following prerequisites must be met:
1. The Application for Membership Form must be completed, this includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Company details, i.e. Partnership, Company, Sole Trader etc. and enclose copies of registration.
- Insurance Certificate showing level of liability cover.
- Qualifications of Owner/Operator.
- Qualifications of all instructors.
- All contact information as included on the application form.
- Banking details.
2. IYT may request photographs/video as part of the application process. These photographs/video should include:
- A view of the office from a distance showing the surrounding area.
- A close view of just the office.
- A view of the classroom/s set up for class including materials or training aids used there.
- Several views of all the boat/s inside and out, and from a distance showing the area where the students embark/disembark (dock/pier etc).
- Pictures of the first aid kit, lifejackets, fire extinguishers, liferafts, MOB equipment, flares, communications equipment and all other safety equipment on the boats/s.
- Several pictures of the interior accommodation, galley, sleeping arrangements, mess and engine room.
- Pictures of any dinghies used for training purposes.
- Pictures of staff and any other photographs considered relevant.
IYT reserves the right to deny membership for any reason which is or may be considered detrimental to the best interests of IYT. Membership will be granted at the sole discretion of IYT based on a unilateral decision. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee or result in membership.
In the event that membership or renewal of membership is denied, an appeal in writing may be made to IYT for the IYT Training Board to consider; the decision of the Board shall be final.
Renewal Procedures
IYT reserves the right to deny renewal of membership for any reason which is or may be considered detrimental to the best interests of IYT and its Training Programme. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee or result in renewal. An IYT appeals procedure is available.
Withdrawing Membership
IYT reserves the right to withdraw membership at any time and for any reason which is or may be considered detrimental to the best interests of IYT and its Training Programme.
In the event that membership or renewal of membership is denied, an appeal in writing may be made to IYT for the IYT Training Board to consider; the decision of the Board shall be final.
Amendments to membership requirements
IYT reserves the right to change any requirements to gain or retain IYT membership; it will endeavour to consult with all schools that hold membership before any changes are required by schools. An IYT appeals procedure is available.
