Schools : Application Procedures

1. Application for Partner License

The licensing application should be completed online.

2. License Agreement

This form will be sent to your school once the licensing application form has been received by IYT and initial approval is made by the Board. This form should be completed as soon as possible and returned to IYT. Following our receipt of the form, IYT will make an appointment for a mutually convenient time for one of our Schools Assessors/inspectors to visit your school. The inspection process may take two days.

3. Instructors Resumes

With the Application, please send a detailed resume for each instructor you plan to use for the IYT Training Programme outlining the level of courses proposed to be taught by each instructor. Each resume must show all the instructor’s current qualifications and a full outline of seatime, to include as a minimum, vessel types, including lengths, tonnage, sail or power vessels, areas of operation, position on board, days, miles and night hours underway. It should also show instructing experience and whether theory or practical based. Also to be included are; copies of personal seatime logbook/testimonials or equivalent for verification, two passport sized photographs and a copy of passport or other identification.

4. Facility Inspection Report

This form will be sent to your school once the Application for Membership form has been received by IYT and initial approval is made by the Board. Please complete the form as instructed prior to the inspectors visit. His time with you is valuable and time saved on paperwork allows more time for orientation.

5. Training Vessel Inspection Report

This form will be sent to your school once the Application for Membership form has been received by IYT and initial approval is made by the Board. Please complete one form for each vessel which is to be used on the IYT Programme, as instructed, prior to the inspectors visit.

6. Health, Safety and Risk Assessment Form

Complete the "Health, Safety and Risk Assessment" in the "Health and Safety, and Incident Reporting" Section of this manual; display in the School, a copy to be given to the Inspector.

7. Insurance Certificate

Please provide IYT a copy of Insurance Certificate showing level of liability cover.

8. Inspection of the School and Vessels

The Inspector will need to have access to all the premises and vessels to confirm the information that you have completed on the above forms is accurate and correct. He will need to photograph the premises and vessels for the IYT archives. The Inspector will want to meet all personnel who will be involved with the programme to help the orientation process and to answer questions.

9. Interview Instructors

All the instructors who are to teach the IYT Master of Yachts programme will be interviewed by the inspector to establish their suitability, to help the orientation process and to answer questions. All instructors will be required to comply with the Instructor Requirements outlined in the Section "IYT Training Programme Instructor and Examiner/Assessor Requirements" of this manual.

10. Licensing Partner Fees

On successful completion of the Application process an invoice for the annual renewal will be sent, this is then paid annually at the anniversary of the membership agreement.

Notes:

IYT reserves the right to deny licensing for any reason which is or may be considered detrimental to the best interests of IYT. Licenses will be granted at the sole discretion of IYT based on a unilateral decision. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee or result in partner license priviledges.

Provisional approval may be given, in certain instances, prior to completion of these steps during which time any outstanding requirements may be addressed and allowing instructors to upgrade their existing qualifications to comply with IYT Instructor requirements.

The MCA reserves the right to inspect any IYT member school at any time without notice.

The MCA also reserves the right to confirm, deny or withdraw IYT Instructor or Examiner status.

The information submitted for the application process is for the sole use of the Management of International Yachtmaster Training, Inc. and will be treated in the strictest of confidence. Under NO circumstances will any of this information be released, shared, reprinted, copied or transmitted in any form whatsoever to any third party.
